The Diamond Industry Portal was established by the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) with the aim of promoting the Israeli diamond industry and all those involved in it.

The Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) is a non-profit, public interest company, which represents all organizations and institutions involved in the Israeli Diamond Industry.

The main functions of the Israel Diamond Institute encompass:
- Marketing and business development
- Technological research and development
- Promotion of rough diamond trading
- Professional training
- Security consultancy

It has a New York branch with the mission to expand trade in Israeli diamonds throughout US markets, as well as to facilitate connections between American buyers and Israeli diamond traders, especially those who do not have their own offices in New York. In addition, the office will seek to develop new markets for Israeli goods beyond the major cities of New York, Miami and Los Angeles.

Another branch of activity is the Asia Pacific branch which its representative office in Hong Kong fulfills a wide range of tasks as defined by the Israel Diamond Institute and offers a basket of services earmarked for both individuals and the entire industry.
